LESSONS IN HAIR GLAMOUR

BEHIND THE SCENES PREPARATION
No matter how 'undone' a style looks on a magazine cover, you can bet there's been a certain amount of preparation done beforehand. And that means at the least a blow dry. The technique: start with towel-dried hair, apply your styling product - which one will depend on the look you want (more about this later). With the dryer on full blast, brush hair from one side to the other, then from back to front, lifting it at the roots and gently pulling the lengths and ends smooth until it's dry. If you have natural kinks at the airline, catch them with your brush and blow them out with a quick blast of air. You now have a good base to style the way you want. However, never underestimate the power of a good shampoo and conditioner to affect the end result. "Expensive-looking hair is always glossy, shiny and full of body," advises McKnight.
